Just six months after he joined Barclay’s as chief data scientist in the UK, John Tang is pulling up stakes and throwing in with Cerberus Capital Management. Before his short stint with Barclay’s, Tang was employed by JP Morgan as head of analytics in corporate and investment bank research.

Here is an excerpt from a press release published by efinancialcareers.com

Tang isn’t the only Cerberus data scientist with a JPMorgan pedigree. Last year the fund also hired Len Laufer, the former head of JP Morgan’s intelligent solutions team. Laufer has been recruiting his former colleagues after the intelligent solutions team was disbanded and dispersed across JPM business units. They should feel at home: Cerberus as a whole is run by Matt Zames, the former chief operating officer of J.P. Morgan.

In his new role, Tang will be head of advanced analytics for EMEA at Cerberus Technology Solutions. In November 2017, Cerberus hired Afsheen Afshar, another former JPMorgan data scientist, and tasked him with building a, ‘full-scale front-to-back data and advanced analytics capability that can be leveraged by all businesses and portfolio companies touched by the entire firm.’ Afshar left nine months later. Tang will presumably be picking up where he left off.
